Privacy and usage data

Your own cookieless visitor stats, and the anonymous usage summary your site can share with us.

On this page

Two separate switches under Settings → Privacy control what your site counts: your own visitor stats, and the anonymous summary it can share with us.

Your visitor stats

Your site counts page views, where visits come from (Google search, an ad, Instagram, another website and so on) and which pages bring in enquiries. The numbers are for you, and they never leave your site.

It works without cookies. Nothing is stored on your visitors' devices, and no IP addresses or other details that could identify someone are kept: every number is a daily total. So it counts visits, not people. One person who comes back three times counts as three visits.

To credit an enquiry to the right source when someone looks at a few pages first, the source travels with the visit. Links within your site briefly carry a label such as ?via=google_ads, which disappears from the address bar as the page loads. The label is the same for everyone who came the same way, so it can't identify anyone.

When someone sends one of your forms, their enquiry notes how they found you: the source, any campaign tags on the link they arrived from, and the page they landed on. That stays with the enquiry. Mention it in your privacy policy alongside your contact form.

Your own visits aren't counted while your browser is signed in to the admin. To stop counting altogether, clear Count visits and enquiries; counting stops immediately.

Sharing anonymous usage data with us

Once a day your site can send us a short summary of how it's built. It exists so we can learn which layouts actually work and show you how your pages compare with similar sites. It's controlled under Settings → Privacy.

What is sent

  • Counts of pages, sections, navigation items, forms and custom modules.
  • Which block types a page uses, and where they sit on it.
  • Daily page view and form submission totals.
  • Your plan and CMS version.

What is never sent

  • Anything identifying a visitor. No IP addresses, cookies or sessions.
  • Your content. No page titles, headings, copy, slugs or images.
  • Form submissions or customer details.

No cookies are set on your visitors for this, so it doesn't change anything you need to tell them about.

Turning it off

Clear Share anonymous usage data under Settings → Privacy. Collection stops immediately, so nothing further is recorded and nothing is sent. Your site works exactly the same either way.
