No. Signing up for Free only asks for your email and a subdomain name — no payment method at all. A card is only needed if and when you choose to upgrade to Starter.

Yes. There's no contract on any plan. If you cancel Starter, your site doesn't disappear — talk to support about moving back to the Free tier so your content stays live.

Nothing bad — it just stays live, permanently, with the Free plan's limits (subdomain only, up to 5 pages, 100 contact-form emails/month). There's no forced trial expiration and no countdown.
