Your site is backed up automatically every night. You don't need to configure anything.
What's captured
- Your entire database — pages, posts, documentation, gigs, projects, forms and their submissions, navigation, users and settings.
- Every uploaded file: your media library, plus gig and project images.
- The configuration your site needs to run.
How long backups are kept
Fourteen days, on a rolling basis. Each night's backup is taken fresh, and anything older than two weeks is removed.
That window matters: if something goes wrong, tell us sooner rather than later. A page deleted three weeks ago is past the point where we can bring it back.
Restoring
Restores are handled by us — get in touch and tell us what happened and roughly when. We'll restore from the most recent backup taken before it.
A restore returns the whole site to how it was at that point, so anything created after the backup would be lost. If you've deleted one page but written three others since, say so — it's usually better to rebuild the one page than to roll everything back.
Keeping your own copy
Nightly backups protect against accidents on our side and yours, but they aren't an archive. If a particular piece of writing matters to you, keep your own copy too — the same advice applies to any hosted service.
